Deirdre Baggot: Nationally Recognized Healthcare Expert and Strategist

Deirdre Baggot has been a leader in healthcare payment reform for over twenty years. She authored over twenty papers on bundled healthcare payments, designed programs for 200 hospitals and advises several health system boards. National Public Radio’s Morning Edition, “All Things Considered” and “Planet Money” all featured her as a guest. She served as keynote speaker at various national meetings, including the Healthcare Financial Management Association, American Heart Association, Medtronic, Bundled Payment Summit and Innovation Summit. Baggot focuses on building long-term client relationships, with consulting practices that generated over $5 million in annual revenue for two firms. Deirdre Baggot began her career in academic healthcare at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. During her tenure at Northwestern Memorial, she worked as a staff nurse, resource coordinator and managed the hospital administration group.

After six years at Northwestern Memorial, Deirdre Baggot moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan. She continued her career at the University of Michigan Health System. In three years, she worked as a business analyst and administrative manager. Because of her outstanding performance, she received an award for leadership in safety.

Deirdre Baggot then moved to Denver, Colorado, where she served as the Senior Administrator of the Cardiac and Vascular Institute, a subsidiary of SCL Health. As a senior administrator, she led 450 people in such areas as recruitment and business development. Because of her success in adding 11 more clinics and recruiting staff who became key leaders, she earned a positon as Senior Vice President at GE Healthcare Partners in Los Angeles, California.

In 2012, the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (“CMS”) appointed Baggot as an expert reviewer for Bundled Payments Models two through four. In addition, she lead the CMS Acute Care Episode (“ACE”) Bundled Payment Demonstration.

Baggot earned her Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Colorado. She holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Loyola University School of Business, where she was a Gregory LaVert Scholar. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern Illinois University.
